About me
Tawnya Yates is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and former Board Member for the Southwest Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. She has worked as a reading interventionist in the public schools serving students with dyslexia in both general and special education settings. She supports teachers in building knowledge of the Science of Reading and effective literacy instruction for all students through careful observation of students’ reading and writing behaviors and analysis of informal and formal assessments in order to determine appropriate instructional next steps. Currently, Tawnya works for the Special Education department in Albuquerque Public Schools supporting teachers in applying knowledge of reading acquisition and providing all students access to rich complex text. She is also a local LETRS facilitator.
