About me
Special Education Cross-Cat and Inclusion Math Teacher
6th/7th/8th Grade
I’m Hyzy, a special education math teacher in Albuquerque who loves exploring the intersection of math, culture, art, and storytelling. I’m especially interested in ethnomathematics and designing culturally responsive enrichment in small-group environments. You can talk to me about anything from UDL and interdisciplinary teaching to making math meaningful through connections to social studies and the visual arts. I’m always curious about how people learn, how creativity shows up in unexpected places, and how we can honor lived experiences in the classroom. If you’re passionate about education, equity, art, or just enjoy thinking through new ideas, I’m always excited to learn with you.
